What makes this area different
The 2012 Dump Fire started with target shooting on the Lake Mountain side of town, ran past 5,500 acres in a couple of days, and forced hundreds of families out of their homes in Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain. The fuel that carried it is still there: cheatgrass under sagebrush under scattered Utah juniper, one continuous ladder from the foothills down to the fence lines. Mastication is the standard treatment for exactly this fuel type on ground a machine can reach — grind the juniper and brush in place, break up the continuity, and leave mulch instead of standing tinder.
The city keeps growing along the lake at the same time, which brings the other half of our work here: clearing lots for construction, knocking back brush on parcels waiting to build, and cleaning up field edges and fence lines on the ag ground that remains between subdivisions.
Local context
Saratoga Springs is a fuel-break town. The homes are new, the landscaping is young, and the wildland edge is close and dry. The highest-value work here is the strip where backyards meet the Lake Mountain foothills — widening that buffer parcel by parcel is cheap insurance compared to what 2012 showed the neighborhood.

Special considerations for Saratoga Springs
The west-side foothill ground here is dry, rocky in places, and steep in the draws. We keep the machine on ground it can work safely and flag anything that needs a different approach at the quote stage. Wind matters too — dry-season cuts get scheduled with fire weather in mind, because nobody wants equipment sparking on a red-flag day.
